🔍 What Is Backup Integrity?
It’s the continuous validation that your backups:
- Actually exist
- Are current
- Can be restored
- Meet business requirements for RTO and RPO
- Are not exposed to unauthorized access or malware injection

- Inventory All Backup Jobs
- Cloud-native (AWS Backup, Azure Recovery Vault, GCP Snapshots)
- Third-party tools (Veeam, Druva, Cohesity)
- Select 1 Critical Asset to Test
- Example: SQL database, ERP volume, user folders
- Restore to sandbox or test environment
- Measure Time to Recover (RTO)
- Record: Start time → End time
- Did dependencies work (configs, access, policies)?
- Verify Backup Health Logs
- Look for failed jobs, corrupt blocks, skipped items
- Review past 7–30 days logs
- Score and Report Integrity Level
- Assign color: Green (verified), Yellow (outdated), Red (failed/unknown)
- Build visual “Backup Trust Score” dashboard
